There are so many fun activities to do when you live in California. Especially when there’s so many great bakeries to visit. But with summer just around the corner, now is the perfect time to check out some of the local butterfly parks around the state.

1) Monarch Grove Sanctuary

If you’re looking to see the migration of monarch butterflies, then Monarch Grove Sanctuary in Pacific Grove, California is the place for you. Here you can see clusters of butterflies on the pine, cypress, and eucalyptus trees. This natural migration path is important to the city and because of it, you are certain to have a wonderful experience when you visit.

2) Hallberg Butterfly Gardens

The next time your spending some time in Sonoma County, then you need to make a stop at the oldest butterfly garden in the county. The garden is nestled among the apple orchards and cover over nine acres of overgrown vines, thickets, flowering pathways, and meadows. This wildlife sanctuary focuses on moths and butterflies and is the perfect place to see some of the beautiful creatures. Before you just drop in, make sure to schedule an appointment.

3) The Kenneth Stocking Native Plant Garden

The garden includes 15 different plant communities representing the major floristic provinces of California. The butterfly garden overlays three of these plant communities. Walk along the Butterfly Meadow Trail to see some of the beauty the garden has to offer while catching glimpses of some of the stunning butterflies.

4) Osher Rainforest

Located at the California Academy of Sciences, the Osher Rainforest is a lush, 4-story rainforest teeming with life. Here you can find over 1,600 plants and animals, like beetles, ants and so much more. And while you’re on your adventure, head up to the butterfly emergence chamber on the top floor of the rainforest. Where you’ll see shiny chrysalises and impressive cocoons as well as so many beautiful butterflies.
